A vermi bed, also known as a vermicompost bed or worm bed, is a controlled environment used for vermicomposting. Vermicomposting is a process that involves the decomposition of organic waste materials using earthworms to produce nutrient-rich vermicompost, which is a valuable organic fertilizer and soil conditioner.

Vermi beds are typically constructed as shallow containers or pits with suitable bedding materials for the worms to live and thrive. The earthworms consume organic matter like kitchen scraps, vegetable and fruit peels, coffee grounds, shredded paper, and other biodegradable waste. As the worms feed on the organic waste, they break it down through digestion, and their castings (excreta) become vermicompost.
